Saosin will be releasing a new EP titled The Grey on October 14th. Watch out for Saosin’s Upcoming Events in your Cities

Although the band’s members first began playing together in Baltimore, Maryland, the band officially formed in October 2004 in Raleigh, North Carolina. One of Alesana’s close bands they toured with was Before Their Eyes. Alesana was the first band to join Tragic Hero Records in 2005, and released their debut EP, Try This With Your Eyes Closed, in June of that year. They toured the United States, including an appearance at the Cornerstone Festival, in 2006, and added a new drummer and an additional guitarist/vocalist to their lineup. They followed with a full-length, On Frail Wings of Vanity and Wax, in the summer of 2006. Many of the songs on the album take inspiration from Greek mythology.[citation needed] In late 2006, they signed on to Fearless Records, which re-released their LP in March 2007 to mixed reviews.

Alesana will head out this fall along with Escape the Fate and A Skylit Drive in support of Chiodos and Silverstein and more…

Alesana have also been named along with Nine Inch Nails, Alice in Chains and The Bloodhound Gang to tour Australia with the Soundwave ‘09 festival.

After several lineup changes, the band acquired Billy Hamilton, a local fan who learned of the band’s need for a bassist on the Internet message board “The 905 Board” (an Ontario area outreach board which used to be for local musicians). In Christmas of 2001, he joined the band after Told helped him learn the music for the songs. Following a rehearsal on Boxing Day (December 26) in 2001, he officially debuted with Silverstein. The next spring, original guitarist Richard McWalter left the band to move to Victoria, British Columbia to study engineering. He was then replaced by Neil Boshart, childhood friend of Shane Told. The new lineup recorded a second EP, When the Shadows Beam, in preparation for their first tour in Eastern Canada. The band signed to Victory Records in October 2002 with a complete lineup as Hamilton attempted to complete his secondary education one semester early.

Here are some of the lineups for their upcoming events. Go and get em’

Blessthefall grew out of high school practice sessions consisting of guitarist Mike Frisby, drummer Matt Traynor, (ex)vocalist Craig Mabbitt and bassist Jared Warth. After founding member Miles Bergsma left to attend college at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, they released a three-track EP in mid-2005 and added guitarist Eric Lambert to form their current line-up. Phoenix-area gigs with Greeley Estates and an openly religious orientation got the band local press and a deal with Warner subsidiary, Science Records. The band then toured with Alesana and Norma Jean across the United States and Canada. Their debut album, His Last Walk, was released on April 10, 2007, to mixed reviews. The band completed the entire 2007 Warped Tour circuit nationwide. His Last Walk peaked at #32 on the U.S. Billboard Heatseekers chart.

Escape The Fate’s early success on the local radio quickly massed a devoted fan base. In October 2005, they won a local radio contest judged by My Chemical Romance, who awarded the band an opportunity to open for its current headlining tour with Alkaline Trio and Reggie and the Full Effect.

What is screamo?

Screamo is a musical genre which evolved from emo and hardcore punk in the early 1990s. “Emo” and “screamo” are essentially meant to describe two different styles of music (one with screaming and one without), changing with the progression of bands and fans. Characteristic of the genre are “loud-to-soft” (sometimes chaotic) dynamics, harmonized guitars with fast-paced riffs and twinkly melodic breaks, frantic/abrasive shouting or screaming, angry/abstract/introspective lyrics, low-end production, and exceptionally energetic live shows. Screamo bands also tend to bury the vocals in with the other instruments and use more arpeggiated progressions, dynamic and time changes. Breakdowns in screamo songs are often slower and quieter than in other genres, though there is a tendency of still screaming during the soft parts.

For your info:

  • screamo is not popular
  • screamo is not mainstream
  • screamo is not featured on the warped tour

  • screamo is not on tv
